Tamang Heritage Trail
The 'Tamang Heritage Trail trekking' is a new virgin trekking route on the borders of Tibet. It is a very rewarding addition to the Langtang Valley Trek located between Langtang and the Ganesh Himal. The region is steeped in Tibetan tradition and culture and the local Tamang people are recognised as being some of the warmest and most welcoming people in Nepal. The region does not require a special permit other than the normal Langtang trekking permit. From Kathmandu we take the road north towards the Tibetan border to Syabrubesi rather than take the normal trail up the Langtang Valley we travel north east to enjoy a relatively gentle circuit trek through some truly picturesque villages, terraced fields and peaceful valleys,superb mountain views. At present this trail is near virgin territory and it provides some fantastic mountain views of the nearby peaks. There is also an opportunity to bathe in the natural hot springs at Tatopani. Continuing north towards Tibet on the way there is a local fort along with a monastery and the local architecture of this region is fascinating and quite different from that found in other areas of Nepal.
As we near the end of the trek we make a homestay at Briddim and have a full day to relax and discover more about the local traditions of the area.There are some dramatic views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass (5122m.), Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges. The trail starts either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure, Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang valley and Kyangjin Gompa. Goljung, Gatlang and Langtang are traditional Tamang villages culminating cultural features. The visit to the beautiful local Tamang monastery and the holy Parvati Kund Lake at Gatlang adds exhilaration to your trekking.
Day by day itinerary
Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02 : Full day sightseeing in KTM and preparation for the trip.
Day 03 : Kathmandu- Syabrubesi 1460m - 9 hrs by Bus and 6 hours by Jeep
Day 04 : Syabru Beshi - Gatlang 2238m - 6:00 hrs
Day 05 : Gatlang - Tatooani 2380m - 6 hrs
Day 06 : Tatopani - Nagthali 3165m Thuman 2238 6 hrs
Day 07 : Thuman - Briddim 2239m 6 hrs
Day 08 : Bridim - Lama Hotel 2410m 5:30 hrs
Day 09 : Lama hotel - Langtang 3330m –5 hours
Day 10 : Langtang - Kanging Gompa 3780 . 3 hours
Day 11 : Rest in Kanging Gompa
Day 12 : Kanjing Gompa - Lama Hotel 6 hours
Day 13 : Lama hotel - Syabru Beshi 5 hours
Day 14 : Drive back - Kathmandu
Day 15 : Free day in Kathmandu.
